A weekend of relaxation and laughter
These three special ladies have been friends since we were 16 & 18 and so it only seemed right that we should celebrate our 40th birthdays in style! Due to today’s crazy busy world, what with work commitments and family we rarely see each other all together and so this was the perfect reason to spend some quality time together and we certainly did it in style.
We choose to stay at the Lifehouse as we had stayed there about 8 years ago and so thought it would be lovely to go back, it was also within our budget and wasn’t too far to travel.
We all arrived on the Friday around midday and it was perfect timing as we were able to check in straight away which was such a bonus as we could relax from the start. We settled into our rooms and toasted our weekend ahead with a glass of bubbles and some snacks. After a much needed catch up we heading to the Thermal spa to start the relaxation. We were provided with the comfiest dressing gowns for our stay.
The Thermal spa includes a number of relaxation rooms including a sauna, steam room and salt room. There are also tropical and ice showers plus a plunge pool. Along with these there is a good-sized swimming room and a large Jacuzzi which had various features. There are a number of sun-beds around the room and we always managed to get some together apart from once but we were just doing lengths so this was fine. One thing we remember about the spa is the amazing food and they didn’t fail to disappoint. The breakfast included a variety of cooked options; including the tastiest mini hash browns plus fruit, cereal and pastries. You could also order extras such a porridge, poached eggs with smoked salmon and also a selection of coffees.
We had bar food for lunch on the Friday which was delicious, three of us shared a vegetarian platter and some chips, which we just so moreish. The lunch included in our package was a vast selection of dishes, including salads, hot food, such as vegetarian lasagne, mince curry and rice. You could also start your lunch with soup and could finish it with cake.
Dinner was by far my favourite meal as I could have eaten anything on the menu. We had a three-course meal included in our deal and so we made the most of this. Three of us girls started our meal with the most incredible tasting risotto with truffle; I would go as far to say this was the best risotto I have ever tasted. For my mains I choose Pork one night and Lamb the next, both of these were just perfect. I don't eat either of these meats at home and so this was a real treat. Pudding we went for cheese and biscuits as I was a little disappointed there was no chocolate brownie or fondant but the cheese was just delicious and again such a treat as I don't buy cheese and biscuits for home except for at Christmas; which does sound a little silly but it means when I do treat myself to Stilton and Brie I enjoy every mouthful. Along with the food there was a vast selection of drinks including cocktails and a Gin bar, which we tried a few of.
As well as the relaxation of the spa being a guest at The Lifehouse Spa gives you access to their incredible grounds. They are so stunning as you can see from the many pictures we took. Walking round these wonderful gardens is the perfect escape from reality and so relaxing.
As I am sure you have gathered we had the best time and we would recommend this Spa to anyone looking for a relaxing break. I will write up about the new products I bought whilst at the Spa and also the skin analysis I had over the coming weeks.
Be great to hear if anyone else has visited the Spa and what they thought.
